British Shorthair

British Shorthairs are the quintessential "teddy bear" cats, with their round faces, chubby cheeks, and dense, plush coats. They're known for their calm, dignified demeanor and are often described as the perfect companion for people who want an affectionate but not overly demanding cat.

Originally bred from domestic cats and brought to Britain by the Romans, British Shorthairs nearly became extinct during World War II. Careful breeding programs helped restore the breed. They're most famous in blue (gray) but come in many colors and patterns.

These cats are remarkably easygoing and adapt well to most living situations. They're not lap cats by nature but enjoy being near their families. British Shorthairs are excellent with children and other pets, making them ideal family companions. They're also perfectly content being the only pet.
